Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat, Cote d'Azure

Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat is situated on the tip of Cap Ferrat commanding spectacular view of the surrounding mediterranean.  Over a 100 years old, its the only hotel on the French Riviera accredited with the "Palace Hotel" status.

Driving up the driveway, you leave stresses and the bustle of the French Riviera behind you as you enter the ewquisite all white lobby. Suprisingly even though I was arriving with the hotel car the was no one to greet me as I arrived and was directed to reception for check-in formalities to be completed. The hotel and public areas have been recently redone with the addition of the Residences designed by Pier-Yves Rochon, boasting all white interiors, floor to ceiling windows opening on to your private terrace and infinity edged pool.

During my two night stay I stayed in one of the private pool residences and found the facilities in the room second to none.  Beutiful soft furnitures in shades of white gave the room a modern fresh outlook, with romantic touches of fresh white flowers and ofcourse the private infinity pool overlooking the mediterranean through the pine forest.  All the Residences are next to each other and the infinity pools are separeted only by a small "natural" faux rock wall, so privace sometimes might be an issue when in the pool. The terrace itself is completely private.  For those seeking ultimate privacy the hotel offers Villa Rose Pierre, a free standing villa with private facilities.

On both evenings I dined at the Michelin-starred "Le Cap" which provided perfectly executed french dishes in an intimate and elegant setting.  More casual dininsg options include "La Veranda" and the hotels beach club "Club Dauphin".

The setting of Club Dauphin set in the very tip of the peninsula itself is very special, featuring an infinity pool, private bungalows and a restaurant.  Much to my dissapointment the lunch menu was almost too pedestrian featuring sandwiches and burgers and the plastic sunloungers around the crowded pool left a lot to be desired for.

All in all a solid choice on the French Riviera, especially if staying at one of the pool residences.  Unfortunately I didnt get to see any of the rooms in the main building.
